On the night before Typhoon Candu landed in Zhoushan, the fences at all construction sites in the city were down, and some were kept secure with heavy objects such as manhole covers. The same object gives two opposite impressions at different times and places. The vulnerability of the barrier contrasts ironically with the frenzy on the eve of the typhoon’s entry. What is more interesting is that after the typhoon, these fences were firmly put together, giving a solemn sense of warning.
